5 ways to celebrate friendship day in your 30s

Friendship day_2

We don’t believe in friendship day, never had..just another day for us, another reason to celebrate; maybe like the days when we party for no reason. We have always been of the kind who believe, “we might not talk everyday and can be best friends still.”
But then again, we are also of the kind who look for reasons to celebrate(now that we are grown-ups)..where we WANT to spend time with each other but because of the different geographical locations, it’s hard to do so.
So, we celebrate friendship day i.e our day whenever we meet! 🙂

HISTORY
But yeah, since it’s a special post dedicated to this day..let’s just go through the history first.
Source: Wikipedia

Friendship Day was originated by Joyce Hall, the founder of Hallmark cards in 1930, intended to be 2 August and a day when people celebrated their friendships by holiday celebrations.
The idea of a World Friendship Day was first proposed on 20 July 1958 by Dr. Ramon Artemio Bracho during a dinner with friends in Puerto Pinasco, a town on the River Paraguay about 200 miles north of Asuncion, Paraguay.
Out of this humble meeting of friends, the World Friendship Crusade was born. The World Friendship Crusade is a foundation that promotes friendship and fellowship among all human beings, regardless of race, colour or religion. Since then, 30 July has been faithfully celebrated as Friendship Day in Paraguay every year and has also been adopted by several other countries.
The first Sunday in August is Friendship Day in the United States.
Today at besties, we will discuss how to celebrate your day, the thirty way:

1. Celebrate the old way
Pick one of your old ways of spending time together, which has been missing from your life for quite sometime and do that! There is nothing better than celebrating it the old way, your way.
For all our friends out there, we pick our car drives (gediyaan) as the best one to celebrate our way and we know, you all agree to that 🙂

2. Chill and watch F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

I can imagine a smiling face from all of those who admire F.R.I.E.N.D.S. – the TV show. There is no alternative to chill at home and watch the series with a bowl of popcorn by your side.

3. Let’s go shopping

Let's go shopping

Shopping is a therapy we need, specially when its with your bestie.
This one needs no further discussion, so we will end up with a quote by Mimosa Rose, “if shopping doesn’t make you happy, then you’re in the wrong shop.”

4. Dinner Date with your bestie
Go to that long due dinner date with your bestie (needless to mention leaving your kids at home, if any) and have some ‘friends’ time together. Combine it with a clubbing night or a karaoke session..laugh out, live aloud!

5. Sleepover

Sleepover

And here is our favorite one, arrange a sleepover at a friend’s place or a holiday at some resort. Wear your pyjamas and let the endless session of gossips begin. 😉

These are some of our favourite ideas and we will love to hear about how you celebrate your day of friendship..Happy friendship day!

A & V|XOXO

  1. Love these ideas, there’s nothing better than spending time with your best friends…we spent all weekend with our friends this weekend, just playing video games and being silly, it was the best weekend I’ve had in a long time.

  2. This post reminded me of beautfiul moments with my bestie. I do not believe that a single day can be dedicated to celebrate the beautiful bond of friendship. Since, I do not live in the same country as my friend, we really make an effort to make our times special whenever we get a chance to meet/talk. ❤

  3. I didn’t know that there was a day dedicated to friendship. What a great occasion to do something fun with your friends! Going shopping and then having a sleepover which includes watching Friends sounds like a great plan for the day 🙂
